Portugal Education Resource Visit: Iscte and St. Peter’s International School

In May 2024, FGI Group Holdings, accompanied by representatives of Fosun Asset Management (FAM), visited Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon and St. Peter’s International School. The visit formed part of FGI’s family-settlement support research: alongside residence planning, education continuity is an important practical consideration for internationally mobile families.

Background

Starting the education visit

FGI organised the Portugal education visit in May 2024, with FAM representatives joining by invitation. The delegation visited Iscte and St. Peter’s International School to explore Portuguese education resources and possible future forms of cooperation. The itinerary was coordinated by FGI’s Portugal operations lead, Giselle.

Inside Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon

The delegation visited the campus and exchanged views with the university on programmes, faculty resources, academic development and arrangements relevant to international students. As a public university with strengths in business and social sciences, Iscte’s programme offering and links to the Portuguese and European employment markets provided a practical reference point for families considering longer-term plans in Portugal.

Initial discussion

Portugal summer-programme concept

Following the discussions, the parties reached an initial understanding to explore a Portugal summer programme, offering participants an opportunity to experience the country’s educational and cultural environment. Any programme remains subject to formal confirmation and final published arrangements.

Future direction

Considering education cooperation

FGI, FAM and Iscte also discussed possible future directions for educational cooperation. They agreed that education-resource connections can be an important part of family-settlement support and would maintain communication while assessing feasible forms of collaboration.

School visit

Primary and secondary education

The delegation subsequently visited St. Peter’s International School. FAM representatives, Giselle and FGI Portugal concierge lead Candy reviewed the campus, curriculum structure and arrangements for international students, and exchanged views with the school on school-entry transitions for children of internationally mobile families.

Conclusion

A foundation for continued dialogue

The visit covered both higher and school-age education, strengthened mutual understanding and created a basis for continued dialogue. FGI will continue to follow developments in Portuguese education and provide information and settlement-support resources to families through appropriate channels.
