China–Portugal Financial Exchange Summit and the Launch Ceremony of the FUTURE Fund
On 19 April 2024, FGI Group Holdings held the China–Portugal Financial Exchange Summit in Macau, China, and jointly launched the FUTURE Fund with Fosun Asset Management. The summit brought together representatives from the financial, insurance, legal and migration-policy sectors in Portugal and Greater China, with approximately one hundred industry professionals attending by invitation.

Remarks from the host and partner institutions
At the opening, Dr Wu Mingqi, founder and chief executive officer of FGI Group Holdings, introduced the Group’s progress across several business areas and its future direction, and welcomed the guests. A representative of Fosun Global Asset Management Group then delivered video remarks, sharing observations on European financial markets and extending wishes for the summit. A Fosun Asset Management (FAM) representative, serving as Fosun’s member of the FUTURE Fund Investment Committee, introduced FAM’s business framework and Fosun’s investment presence in Europe, particularly Portugal. These remarks established the institutional dialogue that framed the summit.

Formal introduction of the FUTURE Fund
The central element of the summit was the launch of the FUTURE Fund. The product was developed jointly by FGI Group Holdings and Fosun Asset Management for the Portuguese market and positioned as a compliant fund route following changes to the Portuguese Golden Visa programme. The organising institutions and invited guests jointly completed the ribbon-cutting, marking its formal public launch. Against the background of the 2023 More Housing legislation, which adjusted the real-estate investment route, this fund route was one of the focal points of the summit.

Positioning in European finance: recent developments in Portuguese insurance and banking
The investment forum was moderated by a representative of Fosun Asset Management (FAM). Its panellists were Paulo Barbosa, chief executive officer of Fidelidade’s Macau branch, and Constantino Mousinho, general manager of the Macau Branch of Millennium BCP. Under the theme “Positioning in European Finance: Recent Developments in Portuguese Insurance and Millennium BCP”, the discussion considered business structures and operating resilience in Portugal’s insurance and banking systems, and their relationship to fund investment. Challenges and opportunities following the adjustment of the real-estate route
The economic forum focused on challenges and opportunities facing the migration sector in the new investment environment following adjustment of the Golden Visa real-estate investment route. Fernando Moreira, then responsible for the Portuguese immigration authority’s digitalisation project; Francisco, senior lawyer at Cuatrecasas in Portugal; and representatives from legal and entry-and-exit service organisations in mainland China participated in the discussion. They offered perspectives on policy implementation, legal practice and industry transition, giving participants multiple reference points for understanding compliant routes under the new policy environment.

European education and family residence planning
The education forum considered the relationship between European educational resources and family residence planning. Representatives of Sino-European education institutions shared perspectives on the characteristics of Portuguese and European education systems, admissions routes and family-planning considerations, offering a reference point for families considering education arrangements for their children. Taken together, the three forums addressed key market concerns in investment, law and education following the policy adjustment.

At the conclusion of the summit, the organisers presented FUTURE product Greater China partner certificates to long-standing institutional partners, formally establishing the cooperation network.
